A proper blazer with an unruly heart. Against charcoal gray, a scattered collection of jewel-toned patches turns classic tailoring into a wearable scrapbook. Burgundy, midnight blue, black, gold, and unexpected flashes of pink mingle with embroidered flowers, contrasting stitches, and raw-edged details.
The front carries its patchwork across the lapels, body, and sleeves, while the back reveals a larger, off-center collage of angular pieces, floral embroidery, and small flag motifs. Pale, visibly worked stitches trace the shapes like little trails between treasured scraps, giving the design its crazy-quilt character.
These embroidered patches on the back of this jacket were rescued from a very old worn tattered Victorian crazy quilt. The two flags commemorate two pivotal historical markers framing the Spanish-American War era
(1896-1898). During the late 19th century, crazy quilts were often used as textile scrapbooks to document family milestones, political alliances, and patriotic sentiments. The hand embroidery on these patches is amazing. Wear a little history and a piece of art.
Notched lapels, a single-button front, and front pockets keep the silhouette grounded in traditional blazer style. Throw it over a simple tee and faded jeans, or pair it with a flowing skirt for that beautiful tension between tailored and untamed.
